JUST RELAX
Here is Averie in her float...without assistance. She has completed her lessons and is now able to float, roll over to her float and has been flipped around, dropped off the edge, pushed under and done all of it with and without a life jacket on! And flipping over with a life jacket on is not easy...it took her a little bit to figure it out (that is part of the survival skills at the end of the class...as are summer clothes, which she is doing on Monday. And winter clothes, which is Tuesday). We will be in the water with her on Wednesday for the final class! She was also sent underwater under the rope and had to figure out how to turn over and float with the rope in her way! Talk about amazing! The website is amazing alone, but watching Averie progress through the program was so cool! She will also eventually learn the other concepts of the sequence (the swim part of swim, float, swim) but until she is a little older and stronger she knows all she needs to know for now! She only learned the floater part (ages 6-12 months are usually floaters and 12 months up can do the whole sequence, it just depends on the individual child). She'll get refreshers (and taught the rest of the sequence when her body is stronger and she is a little older) at the end of summer and next spring!
What else is going on? Well, we have started feeding ourself. With help of course! A little messy, but it is time! Pretty much anything with a spoon now, she wants to help. I don't mind at all...hopefully she'll be a pro in five months! That'll be nice! Well, our week has been busy...we had a Dr. appt. for baby two, and Averie had her eye specialist appt. and doesn't have to have surgery...the Dr. basically said that her duct with grow as she grows and will eventually stop the overflow of tears which is causing the gunk in her eye! I'm glad about no surgery! He said he see 1000's of kids with this situation and they correct themselves most of the time! YEA!
